CHINMAYA MISSION WINTER CAMP REPORT

The Chinmaya Mission Balavihar Winter Camp 2019 started on 2nd January and continued for a span of 5 days till the 6th of January for student between classes 2nd to 8th with over a 100 children participating and enhancing their inter as well as intra-personal skills.

The main elements and learning of the camp this year were the 3 gunas; Satvik, Rajasik and Tamasik, laying main emphasis on the practice of the Satvik guna which would result in a healthy and organized lifestyle as opposed to the Rajasik and Tamasik gunas which showcased temperamental and lazy behaviors respectively. In order to generate these features amongst our students, a number of sessions were conducted which were a blend of academic and non-academic approaches towards the reinforcement of these ‘good qualities’.

Our morning started with a tika of chandan and chanting such as shlokas taken from the Hamsa geeta which elaborated on the 10 sources of these gunas, which was followed by a yoga and aerobics session which challenged their motor skills. With the being said, a number of art and craft activities were also planned such as book mark making, coloring and many more activities in order to blossom their creative dimensions and evoke the feeling of Satvikta. The Mission also organized a trip to WWF where the children thoroughly enjoyed themselves and learnt about a variety of animals through activities conducted by the institution.

For the mission, that believes in developing a youth which is meaningful to our society, the greatest and biggest achievement that children enjoyed themselves throughout the camp and at the same time successfully absorbed the idea or the ideal vision/mode of behavior which was essentially the goal of the camp. Hence, it is safe to say that the camp was a huge success! Hari Om.
