Mahashivratri Evening Puja

Evening Puja

To invite and then welcome Lord Shiva into our hearts, the stage in Tapovan Hall, on which the altar stood, was aesthetically and thoughtfully decorated. Tables for the devotees were beautifully laid out with all the items required for the puja. The accompanying images are proof of how Tapovan Hall looked – ever so grand and picture perfect.

Pujas with Swami Prakarshananda are always joyful events. Every move had been worked out and the proceedings followed with clockwork precision. Swamiji began the elaborate puja, after invoking Lord Ganesha’s blessings with the chanting of Ganapati Atharvashirsha. The mukhya yajman performed the puja to the main Lingam on the altar, while the other yajmans did the Abhishek of their respective Shiva Lingams. The chanting of the rudram and chamakam in unison by Swamiji, Brni Vrinda and Anand was melodiously perfect. All three having been trained in the Sandeepany Sadhanalayas of Chinmaya Mission, it could not be otherwise. The aartis to the Lord soulfully sung brought the evening to a close and elevated the minds of the seekers to where they all had prayed to be – at the feet of the Lord.
