Sadhaks in meditative mode prayed to the Sadguru, Swami Chinmayananda for purity of mind and for attaining the ultimate goal of life. The atmosphere was tranquil and the mood deeply contemplative.
On this auspicious occasion Swami Prakarshananda released a CD – discourses on Bhagavad Gita Chapter 3 and a DVD on Meditation. The members attending partook of a sumptuous breakfast, served in Tapovan Hall.

Chinmaya Mission Delhi celebrates all major hindu festivals and pujas at its Lodhi Road Centre. All are welcome to take part in these programs.
Chinmaya Youth Festival
14th – 18th October 2019
On October 14th Swami Prakarshananda and Swamini Gurupriyananda of Chinmaya Mission Delhi launched a five day Chinmaya Youth Festival for high school students from the NCR. This program me brought together twenty-eight schools in a joyful extravaganza of quiz, extempore speaking, group discussion, dance, choir and skits. Approximately 550 students visited the Mission Centre where the festival was organized and offered us a vibrant experience of young talent and enthusiasm. While 7000 children from thirty-five schools participated in the first round of the quiz that was held in their own schools, the second and third rounds were held at the Mission. Questions based on Indian history, culture and philosophy and also on the environment, were remarkably well tackled by the finalists. The extempore speakers offered their views on quotes of Gurudev and those of eminent personalities from around the globe. Group Discussion topics compelled a fresh look at prevailing attitudes and vision of life. The confidence and ability of students to express themselves were impressive. The choirs presented one devotional and one patriotic song each, in a variety of genres. The dancers had the freedom to choose from classical, folk, modern or fusion styles. The skits focussed on one of three themes: ‘I can Make a Difference’ which saw a range of burning social issues depicted; ‘Caring for the Elderly’ where compassion and gratitude towards grandparents was the message; and ‘Dilli Meri Dilli’ where the fun, fumes and frowns that characterize Delhi were showcased. There were cheers and tears, excitement and disappointment, laughter and grumble but through it all an air of celebration prevailed throughout the week. Delhi Public School Mathura Road carried away the Rolling Trophy! We already look forward to Chinmaya Youth Festival 2020.
DEVI PUJA
For Devi Puja on ashtami (6th October), Durga Mata, resplendent in red, fully in control was seated entre stage on her favourite tiger. From her elevated position, she looked with compassion, on her devotees that had gathered to receive her blessings. For the first time we had four students, from a Vedapatashala, chant Ganapati Atharvashirsam, Shri Suktam, Durga Suktam and Medha Suktam. It was interesting to watch and hear these young boys (Batus, those learning chanting of mantras), chant in the style of their own parampara. Swami Prakarshananda revelled in the puja he presided over, keeping an eye on every detail, which had been earlier worked out to precision. The evening ended with the energetic joining together to perform the dandiya, to the rhythmic beating of the drums.
Chinmaya Mission Delhi celebrated Geeta Jayanti and Tapovan Jayanti on 8th December 2019. The altar with Sri Tapovan Maharaj’s photo and Bhagawad Geeta in the Satsang Hall on 2nd floor was well decorated. Many devotees participated in the chanting led by Sri Anand Sharma along with Umesh Mishra and AT.Raghunath. A new pendrive of discourses on Chapter 7 & 8 of Bhagawad Geeta was also released on this day.
Guru Purnima Celebration- 3rd July 2023
The pivotal moment in any seeker’s journey is the arrival of the Guru who removes the cataract of ignorance from his eyes by revealing to him the knowledge of Upanishads Only with the Guru’s help in the form of knowledge, encouragement, inspiration, grace, can the inexplicable spell of illusion be shattered. On July 3rd, Vyas Purnima day which is also observed as Guru Purnima devotees gathered at the beautifully decorated Guru Mandir to express their gratitude to the Guru Parampara. Swami Prakarshananda guided Shikha Bhushan the mukhya yajman who performed abhishek of Pujya Gurudev’s vigraha to the chanting of sacred Vaidika hymns. Swamiji himself then did the alankara with much love and meticulous attention to detail. This was followed by paduka puja with devotees chanting Pujya Gurudev’s ashtotttarashat namavali. Pujya Gurudev looked resplendent in his new robes. It was almost as though he was smiling benevolently and blessing everyone. The puja concluded with aarti and delicious prasad for all. The celebration continued in the evening with a samashti puja in Tapovan Hall where a beautifully bedecked, multi-tiered altar dedicated to the Guru Parampara awaited the devotees. After invoking their grace, Pujya Gurudev’s paduka puja was performed with great devotion by the yajmans guided by Swamiji. Mala Malhotra, Tanu and Aditya Puri along with their daughter, were the mukhya yajmans and Kalpana and Jagdish Vaswani, upa yajmans. In a packed Tapovan Hall each devotee was able to perform the puja at their tables which were equipped with the necessary items. The puja culminated with a beautiful aarti and devotees paying homage to the glorious
Guru Parampara. The celebrations ended with maha prasad for all.
The impeccable arrangements for this grand celebration were thanks to the unstinting efforts of the dedicated sevaks and Mission staff.
On the auspicious evening of September 6th, the Chinmaya Centre of World Understanding witnessed a glorious celebration of the divine descent of the Lord as the most enchanting Shri Krishna. With Swami Prakarshananda’s able guidance and meticulous attention to detail, the auditorium was transformed into a magical setting for the Krishna Janmashtami puja.
Any big ‘Sankalp’ gets accomplished only by the Grace of God. Of the similar nature a great Sankalp of Kailash Manasarovar Yatra rose in the heart of Swami Prakarshananda. A group of 33 sadhakas travelled to Kailash Manasarovar with Swami Prakarshananda.
At the smooth completion of Yatra a Rudrabhishek was organized in Chinmaya Mission Delhi Centre. Swami Ji along with sadhakas performed rudrabhishek with great devotion to Bhagwan Mahadev.
