CHINMAYA VANPRASTHA SANSTHAN
Vanprastha Sansthan was priviledged to have a satsang with Swami Prakarshananda Ji after a period of one year. The presence of 35 aged persons shows, how happy and enthusiastic each was to meet SwamiJi.
The satsang mainly focused on importance of external and internal sadhna, in our daily life. Our body goes under transformation with age and you cannot expect to be as energetic as you were at 30/40 years. Our all faculties hearing, seeing, walking gets impaired. Do not dishearten, since it happens with everyone. But certainly we can keep them in better condition and keep body fit and energetic. Swami Ji dwelt at length on the importance of pranayam to keep 5 vital airs in order. It should be learned from expert yoga teacher. Walking for 15 minutes, to sit in sun for 10 – 15 minutes and light physical exercise would help to keep body fit. Do it daily, don’t postpone. Swami Ji advised to take pure sattvic diet. Avoid sugar & salt as far as possible. Take resolutions to not to take white sugar, gulab jamuns, junk food, fried food for two years. Enough sugar is available from fruits, vegetables & cereals. Our scriptures say, as the food so is mind. We have to keep control on gross, in order to proceed to have control over subtle and have spiritual evolution. This is general sadhna. The benefits are name, fame, power, position & money.
Swami Ji told us that main objective of human birth is to get Bhagwat Prapti or Self Realization. Satsang is only and best way in kaliyuga for salvation. In order to get rid of fear, discipline in eating, sleeping & maithun are very much desired, to develop purity of mind and to develop intense yearning for liberation. One should do daily introspection whether my life style is giving me complete happiness. In vanprastha ashram devote your time to do mauna upasana so that you abide in this 24 hours.
There are four disturbances which usually worry us at this age. We fear some things, fear from death, disturbed mind creates agitations. Regular satsang, study of scriptures, regular meditation, you would be able to transcend and grow above body, mind & intellect and one day get self-realization, in order to get over cycles of birth & death. Accept the situation as they come. Accept that as God’s will. Be happy & cheerful and let thy name ever be on your lips. Abide in thee forever & ever.
